Symphony

I have a recurring dream,

Where I am playing with a symphony,

A famous symphony,

And I have an instrument

That I have never played before.

the symphony is sitting on a wooden stage

draped with red curtains along the proscenium.

A crowd appears in the seats of the dark auditorium.

They begin to clap and cheer

I begin to look at my piece, trying to find

Where we are to play

I look at my neighbors’ music and both have different pieces

Than mine and each other

I start to panic,

What is going on here?

The conductor stands up to the podium,

I am lost!

He starts to orchestrate,

What am I going to do?

Stay cool

Play Something

So, I play the song which isn’t familiar to me,

I don’t know what to expect from phrase to phrase

I read it carefully

And I listen to the rest of the group,

And I play in a different key

And I play a different song

And yet,

And yet,

It sounds so harmonious.

It sounds so harmonious.

I have never heard music so beautiful.

It is not cacophony.

It is the epitome of beauty.
