How big the ship must have seemed
to you
Tugging at your mother's skirt
as you board.
How big the ocean must have seemed
to you
Endlessly reaching
to the sky blue.
How large that great lady must have seemed
to you
Gleaming and shiny
guiding you to a home you have yet to know.
How vast the praries seemed
to you
The grass waving you along
to your final destination.
How that farm seemed
to you
With all the possibility
of prosperity and potential.
Six generations later
We hope it was all that you imagined.
